Glossary
Definitions of the terms shown by Chunk Change, and which edition each applies to. Some concepts exist only in Java Edition.
- Block coordinatesJava / Bedrock
- The position of a single block in the world, expressed as X, Y, Z.
- Chunk coordinatesJava / Bedrock
- A 16×16 block section of the world. The cy component is the vertical section (sub-chunk) index.
- Local coordinatesJava / Bedrock
- The position within a chunk, ranging from 0 to 15 on each axis.
- Region coordinatesJava only
- A 32×32 chunk (512 block) unit. A concept of the Anvil region file format and does not exist in Bedrock Edition.
- Region file (.mca)Java only
- The save file that stores one region. Bedrock Edition stores chunks in a LevelDB database instead.
- World borderJava only
- The movement limit at ±30,000,000 blocks. Bedrock Edition has no such wall; behaviour just degrades the farther you travel.Minecraft Wiki: World boundary
